[audio]Mahavamsa Chanted in Pali - Anandajoti Bhikkhu
This is a chanting of 68 of the final verses from the Mahāvamsa. It was customary in the Medieval period to finish each chapter with a flourish by including a verse written in one of the Classical metres. This collection serves to provide examples of those metres, and they have now been read in to accompany the text, so that students can get a better understanding of the underlying rhythms of the metres used in the Medieval texts.

The Jatakamala or Garland of Birth Stories by Aryasura retells in Classical Sanskrit 34 of the Buddha's previous lives, illustrating the virtues he pursued during the time he was striving in previous births before attaining Awakening. The text was beautifully translated by the Dutch scholar J S Speyer and published in 1895 as the first book in the Sacred Books of the Buddhists series.
